Rapid immunochromatographic test detecting Babesia spp. antibodies in whole blood, serum, or plasma. Aids diagnosis of canine babesiosis, caused by any of over 100 identified Babesia species — most commonly Babesia canis and Babesia gibsoni in dogs — a tick-borne blood parasite also transmissible via fly bites, contact with infected blood, or rarely vertical transmission. The disease is especially prevalent in temperate climates. Results in 5–10 minutes with no equipment required. Sensitivity 95.05% and specificity 92.24% versus PCR. Shelf life 24 months. Note: prior infection may cause false positives; early-stage infection (insufficient antibody response) may cause false negatives.
