Rapid immunochromatographic test detecting Toxoplasma gondii IgM/IgG antibodies in whole blood, serum, or plasma. T. gondii is one of the most widely spread parasites in the world, capable of infecting most warm-blooded animals, including pets, livestock, birds, and humans -- though cats are the only known definitive hosts. Up to 50% of cats, especially free-roaming ones, carry antibodies against T. gondii, though clinical disease is rare. IgM antibodies rise rapidly within a week of infection and stay elevated for over three months; IgG antibodies indicate longer-term prior infection. Results in 5-10 minutes with no equipment required. Sensitivity 92.59% and specificity 94.37% versus ELISA. Shelf life 24 months.
